1. How Long Have You Been Selling Real Estate?

Having an experienced agent on your team can streamline and accelerate the process. While a new agent can be a good fit, asking this question will encourage them to explain why lack of experience won’t hurt your sale.

2. What is Your Marketing Plan for Selling My Home?

After an agent has toured your home, they should have steps and strategies designed  to sell it quickly and for the most money. A quality agent should be able to share a list of marketing ideas to produce results.  In today’s market, online promotion should be a main focus of the campaign.

3. Do You Have a List of Professionals to Recommend?

Your agent should have a list of vendors to recommend. For sellers, real estate attorneys, surveyors, and/or a title company could be important. Additionally, having a list of painting or flooring contractors, stagers, home inspectors or appraisers could be valuable for those who decide to utilize their services before placing their home on the market.

4. How Many Days Did It Take You to Sell The Average Home?

This information in conjunction with a comparison to overall market results will underscore the potential strength the agent. So the agent you interview should have these facts on hand, and be able to present market statistics from the local MLS to provide a comparison.

5. What is Your Guarantee?

Find out what will happen if you’re not happy with the agent. They should be comfortably willing to stand behind their service. Be sure to clearly know the company’s policy for canceled agreements. Otherwise, you could be tied to a relationship that isn’t working out well for you.
